Susan B Anthony: Let Women Vote!

Susan was a mover and a shaker
Born 1820 and raised as a Quaker
She began a revolution, saying
"Our forefathers forgot some others
Like the rights of our foremothers
When they wrote down the Constitution!"

"Let women vote!"
she'd holler
People thought it strange.
Her face is on a silver dollar
'Cause Susan fought for change!
Change your views!
Women should be respected
Their rights must be protected!
Let women vote for who's elected!

Susan was the inspiration
For women's liberation
Which began in Seneca Falls
In 1848!
And with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the suffragettes were chantin'
"The right to vote belongs to all!"

By train, by foot, by covered wagon
Though her tired feet were draggin'
She never lost her dedication.
And though the pulpit and press would jeer her
She demanded people hear her
As Susan traveled 'cross the nation

One day Susan went, and voted like a gent, but the police sent her to jail!
But Susan spoke her piece and said, "Our fight mustn't cease.
It is impossible to fail!"

Now thanks to the 19th Amendment
Now women are independent
And Government is of our choosin'
So go make your own selection
Vote in each election!
And when you vote, think of Susan!
