Of She I Sing

"Of She I Sing!" is musical celebration of 10 great women of the 20th century, one woman for each decade:

Susan B. Anthony
Mary Pickford
Amelia Earhart
Eleanor Roosevelt
Rosie The Riveter
Rosa Parks
Betty Friedan
Billie Jean King
Sally Ride

The final song, "It's Up To You" is a tribute to the kids of today and the heroes of tomorrow.

"Of She I Sing!" follows the traditions of "Schoolhouse Rock" and "Free To Be You and Me."The 11 songs can be packaged as an hour long theatrical musical revue, or individual 3-minute animated interstitials on children's and women's TV stations. "Of She I Sing!" will grow to become a CD, CD rom, home video, book, and class room teaching tool. It's the perfect way to inspire today's generation with these true stories of girl power.

"Of She I Sing!" not only portrays the social and political history of women in the 20th century, but also captures the evolving sound of American popular music. The style of each woman's song reflects the music of her era. Amelia Earhart's adventurous spirit is echoed in the energy of The Charleston. Rosa Parks's strength is reflected in the power of gospel music. Every swing of Billie Jean King's 1973 "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match pulses with the disco beat.

Girls today have an unprecedented number of role models, but many of them don't know the inpiring stories of the women who paved the way. "Of She I Sing!" entertains, educates, and empowers.

"Of She I Sing!" was performed at Dalton School and Trinity School in New York City. Trinity School students voted "Of She I Sing!" the best assembly of the year.

Of She I Sing

Only 100 years ago,
A woman's job was to cook and sew
Doctor, lawyer, scientist
Women couldn't be that then -- only the men.

Can you imagine, it could be
So many changes in a century?
Cars, planes, email
And female equality!

Oh Oh Oh Oh
Take a ride through history
Let freedom ring!
Here's to the heroes who paved the way
So we can be anything
Of She I Sing! Oh Yeah. Of She I Sing! Oh yeah.
You tell 'em, Sister!

Don't take for granted our rights today
Not long ago on our wedding day
We couldn't work, we couldn't vote
We had no rights of our own --
The woman's place was at home.

But now we're flying the Milky Way
For equal work we want equal pay!
100 years or pioneers have made us dynamos --
Mommies and CEOS!

Oh Oh Oh Oh
Take a ride through history
Let freedom ring!
Here's to the heroes who paved the way
So we can be anything
Of She I Sing! Oh Yeah. Of She I Sing! Oh yeah.
Yeah!
